Intro to the Endocannabinoid System

Curious about cannabis? Get to know this plant and how it works in the body with this online class hosted by Rowan + Sage. Chelsea will provide a primer on the recently discovered endocannabinoid system, exploring the potential of cannabis to nurture a healing dialogue between body systems. We will discuss common terpenes in this healing plant, and how they might interact with your body, and conclude by demystifying some of the jargon and gatekeeping that prevents us from being conscientious consumers intentionally choosing products and strains.

SAD BUT STILL BAD

During the dark nights of winter, plants can help us find the light again. In this class hosted by Rowan + Sage, we'll explore a holistic overview of seasonal affective disorder and how to combat it with simple lifestyle and herbal strategies. Our class will focus on specific herbal actions for SAD, helping attendees learn how to think about approaching this experience with plants and find their perfect herbal companions.

We will also cover contraindications for common herbs used for SAD, such as St. John's Wort, and offer guidance on how to work with plants and medications safely. You will leave this class with a toolkit of various approaches to aid the winter blues and support your mood through the cold, dark months.

Invasive plant medicine

In this class hosted by Rowan + Sage, we will unpack the terminology you might hear when trying to determine the status of a plant in your environment. We will also detail a brief history of how and why invasive species became such a charged topic in the American political landscape.

Together, we’ll learn about the properties of three invasive plant species (Japanese Knotweed, Japanese Honeysuckle, and Autumn Olive), looking at them as sources of invasive plant medicine and within their bioregional ethnobotanical context for clues on how we can incorporate them into our own herbal practices. You will leave this class with a functional framework to begin exploring the bounty of invasive plant species around you as food, medicine, and more.

Root Medicine

Roots are grounding, nourishing, strong, and accumulative. Representative of a plant’s Earth element, roots are how plants gather and store nourishment and are responsible for the entire growth pattern & development of a plant’s life. Without strong roots, a plant is unable to thrive. As healers and teachers, root medicines help us cultivate a sense of groundedness and nourish the roots of our health.

Inside Root Medicine with Chelsea Wall and Sarah Corbett of Rowan + Sage, we will learn about eight different roots for fall, along with preparation methods and recipes to support you through this season. Together we will sink our hands into the soil of the Autumn garden, connect to the pulse of the Earth beneath our feet, and ground into the medicine of our rooted plant companions.
